Solving problems with mono-cladding

Mono-clad buildings, i.e. those without a cavity, pose very specific problems. These homes are usually built with textured fibre cement (e.g. Harditex), cement stucco or EIFS (exterior insulation and finish systems). These cladding systems are not permitted by current regulations.

Mono-clad dwellings don’t have the built-in features that good cavity systems have to deal with leaks. Maintenance therefore becomes of huge significance. You have to keep seals and paint systems perfect.  Act before cracks in plaster, etc., become a concern. This will reduce and perhaps totally avoid major damage.

Our repair and repaint systems restore the buildings original intended performance and are highly cost effective. Contact us for a detailed assessment and quotation.

We always conduct non invasive surveys to establish the extent of any damage as part and parcel of the repair process. If necessary we carry out a further  invasive survey if we are concerned about a specific area. The major difference with our surveys is that we work from the inside of the building we don’t leave marks as some do and when we have finished any invasive work our repairs are hard to spot.

With a planned maintenance and inspection programme prepared by us, problems can be detected early on and dealt with before they become serious and expensive to repair.

Even if your mono-clad home is weather tight, you may want to consider a planned maintenance programme and certainly attending to those hairline cracks. Re-cladding is also an option down the track , as mono-cladding inevitably lowers the resale value of your home. WeatherTight Construction Management can advise you on this.
